At first I didn’t realize I was buying a lifetime supply of graphite. 12 ounces is a lot. I tried it on hard and cold pressed paper as well as cotton watercolor paper. It seems to like papers with tooth (duh). I also use charcoal. I sprayed with fixative as needed. I found a Qtip best for smudging, followed by twisted ass paper, tortillon, and finger. Works great too as a dry lubricant on squeaky hinges.

Easy to use, but be prepared. This is a light, dry powder that blows around easily. Put something under and around any art you use it on. But man, what it can do to enhance background tones in a pencil sketch! Remarkably easy to use, and spreads very smoothly. I love this stuff.And yes, as another reviewer noted, this could be considered a lifetime supply.

Good Graphite Powder That Does What It ShouldI would give the Godora 340 Gram Graphite Powder 4 stars. Overall, it is a good product and performs about how I expected graphite powder to perform. It lays down smoothly, covers well, and is useful for building broad values, soft shading, and atmospheric backgrounds.Like most graphite, it can still have that shiny look, especially when built up heavily. That is not really a flaw of this specific product as much as it is just the nature of graphite. I found that using lighter layers, building up gradually, and controlling smudging helps a lot. Less rubbing and more careful layering gives a better, more natural result.It is good enough for sketching, value studies, blending, and general graphite work. The amount you get is also very generous, so it should last a long time. It may not completely avoid the usual graphite shine, but it does what it is supposed to do and is a solid option for artists who use graphite powder regularly.

I use it for graphite drawings
I use this in my pencil sketches to cover large areas. You can shake off the extra back into the jar. This is my first purchase have for this type of material, so I don’t have a comparison to share. It is messy so take care!

Dark grey
I mixed drops of alcohol in a bowl and added some to make a black paste for my backgrounds. It came out more dark grey. I just don’t reach for this when I’m drawing. I find it a little splotchy. It definitely can be that I’m not used to it, but I just don’t use it much. It’s a Grey value for complexions but too grainy for me.
