Nice texture, neutral color
This is a difficult product to review because… it’s not clear from the description who it’s for, or what it is meant to do, or how to use it. I took off one star for that… but I kind of like this product anyways? My background: I have light to fair skin, with pink undertones (called ‘cool’ in the beauty industry). I’m middle aged with very dry, sensitive skin. I mainly wear makeup for business events, photos, and occasionally when going out.The powder in this compact came completely broken up. I am not knocking any starts off for that. I used a disposable spoolie (the kind of brush you use with mascara) to grind up the powder finer. I then covered the powder with a paper towel, took a round jar with a flat lit, and repressed the powder. The consistency is not dry and brittle, but slightly creamy, and it repressed well without adding anything to it. I really think the texture is nice, it feels nice when you touch it, it feels nice to apply.Onto the color. This powder is a mixture of transparent and pigment, so it does go on a sheer, but it is darker then my skin, so it appears a bit like a bronzer, making my skin look more neutral toned, perhaps a bit tan. So for me, it works like a bronzer. It’s subtle, if you want an chiseled, angular contour this probably isn’t want you want, but if you want to have a soft effect it is nice.If you have really dark skin, I can’t help but think this might work as a highlighter, but again it’s not a strong effect. One of the main benefits of powder is helping absorb oil, mattifying the skin if you prefer that look, and this product, while going on smooth does have a matte finish without feeling overly dry.Overall, I like the texture and consistency of this powder, the shade feels neutral, I’m just not really sure how the product is intended to be used from the description.

Powder
The powder itself seems great, but it arrived broken. Really disappointing packaging.

Decent product, needs better product packaging for protection though.
The powder arrived completely shattered, so I transferred it to another container and used it as a loose powder instead. Despite the packaging issue, the texture is smooth and lightweight, and it leaves a nice soft-matte finish on the skin. It blends well and works as a subtle setting or finishing powder.

Silky Texture, Good Replacement
The first compact powder I got came broken and was scattered all over the box, which was annoying. But I was able to get a replacement, and this one arrived perfectly. The texture feels really silky, and it works perfectly on my skin. It’s supposed to give a matte effect, reduce shine, and smooth things out for a natural look. It feels lightweight and applies evenly. It’s designed as a universal shade, so it should blend with a lot of different skin tones. I’m glad the replacement was good, and it seems like a solid product for setting makeup or touching up throughout the day.

a wonderfully translucent pressed powder I intend to keep using!
I jumped at the chance to try this pressed translucent powder compact from BlackUp Paris! The color did seem a little dark for my fair/cool complexion, but actually trying the powder set my mind right at ease. I was unfamililar with the brand, but upon the slightest bit of research I find that their shade range is inclusive for those of us with lighter skin. What a fanatastic find from a brand I’m unfamiliar with in this day and age. The product information also let me know that this gorgeous tan powder should suit me just fine. It definitely looks darker on a brush or powder applicator than I am usually content with, but it went on smoothly and left a light amount of beautiful, finely milled powder which did indeed leave a completely translucent finish. Excellent! The packaging has a nice weight to it, without looking like it’s trying to be fancy. Good quality component with no frills. The glass mirror inside is clear and without cracks or flaws, and for being a plastic compact it has a very nice weight in the hand. The powder inside is finely milled and pressed tightly. I get a decent amount of product on my brush or applicator (yes, I tried both) without having to scrape or paw at the surface. The powder goes on smoothly and leaves a translucent matte finish. It feels weightless on the skin. I didn’t notice any particular scent, either. The compact feels nice in the hand, and the powder feels weightlessly silky on the skin. The current asking price of $42 is a bit steep, I think. However I also feel that this is a very fine quality product that might need the horse led to the water, if you get what I’m saying. Now that I’ve tried this product I will be very happy to keep this in my roster – but if I hadn’t had a chance to try it out, I might not be so easily persuaded to part with $42 for a powder from a brand I’ve never heard of. Now that I’m at the proverbial water I am happy to drink! I already know of one person who will be receiving this from me as a Christmas gift. The asking price seems a bit steep, but she – and this powder – are worth it. I look forward to seeing more from BlackUp Paris, as I’m really impressed with their pressed powder!

Easily damaged, okay formula
Unfortunately the powder in the compact was completely cracked and broken and spilling out. I didn’t fault the product for that at first, but after seeing multiple other reviewers having had the same experience it seems way too common to not be an issue with the item. The formula of the powder itself is just okay. It does what a pressed powder should, mattifies and adds a bit of pigment.

Neutral finishing powder for the face
The pressed powder arrived in good condition. In the compact, the color looked darker than I’d normally wear, but when I applied it to my fair skin it blended just fine. I was a bit disappointed there isn’t a powder puff included, or even room to put one inside, because I wanted to carry this in my bag and now I’ll have to carry a brush separately. The powder itself feels high quality on my skin and leaves a matte finish.
