This is an oil-based face painting kit that would be great for costume parties or Halloween. I used it on a neighbor kid who had his heart set on being a Dalmation puppy for last weekend’s city parade. His mom asked me to figure it out and when I saw this Black & White Oil Face Body Paint kit, I thought it would be a perfect way to cover his face. (He also wore a size small painter’s coveralls with black acrylic paint spots.)It took about 30 minutes to make him up, and that was several breaks. First, I handed him an oil-based baby wipe and asked him to clean his face. This provided a light oil barrier that made the face paint easier to remove later. Then, I used the white paint stick to cover this face and this took several applications before it met his expectations of being completely opaque. Once his face was covered, I set it with the included powder. Cornstarch works equally well. Then, I tried drawing spots with the black paint stick, and that worked well for large spots. For smaller spots, I used the paint brushs included in the kit. I used the black lipstick to cover his nose and draw thin dog lips. He was adorable, and the paint lasted most of the day. We used more baby wipes to remove most of the paint before he hit the shower, and the rest of it came off completely with a bit of soap and water.I recommend this face paint kit and would order it again.

Layering and blending more clear helps when making contouring, shading,gradients. The included black lipstick is much more pigmented. The setting powder helps lock everything in place so the makeup doesn’t smear during wear.the brushes and sponge are quite cheap, but it is enough for beginners, quick looks, unprofessional costumes. The paint washes off cleanly with soap and water.

It has all the basics to do a lot of black and white looks – vampire, skull, corpse bride…The paint itself is nice. It’s different to apply it from a tube versus in a pot. In a way, it’s easier because it applies better but no detail work is possible unless you’re digging the brush into the tube.The sponge is small and flat, so you might need more because after it gets a bit saturated with color, it tends to blend and you lose the stark black and white. Especially since it soaks in and the sponge is thin, so it can only absorb so much before it blends unintentionally…The lipstick is nice, though not my favorite, but I have my own already, so…The brushes and setting powder work well. The brushes are small enough to do some good detail work and the setting powder keeps it all from smearing when you’re done, though it does dull down the black a bit. No stars off because that’s to be expected. Black setting pressed powder is a thing…
