A Blurring Primer That Smooths Without Feeling Heavy or Dry
I’ve reached the age where my makeup and I occasionally have… creative differences. Fine lines suddenly decide they deserve starring roles, pores seem to appear out of nowhere, and some primers either make me look overly matte or feel like I’ve spread silicone caulk across my face.So when I saw this primer promising to blur pores and soften the look of fine lines while still feeling lightweight, I was definitely interested.After using it for a while, I can honestly say this has earned a spot in my makeup routine.The texture is silky without being greasy, and a little goes a surprisingly long way. It spreads easily across the skin, absorbs quickly, and doesn’t leave behind that thick, slippery feeling that some pore-filling primers have. My skin just feels smooth and comfortable.The biggest difference for me is how much softer my skin texture looks once my foundation goes on. It doesn’t magically erase every line (if anyone invents that product, they’ll become a billionaire overnight), but it definitely creates a more refined, soft-focus finish. My foundation applies more evenly, my pores look less noticeable, and everything blends together much more seamlessly.I also appreciate that it plays nicely with my other makeup. Fast-Setting Syringe Primer Misses the Mark on Fine Lines with Dry Formula
TL;DRThis primer creates a nice soft-focus effect, smooths pores, and controls shine for less than half the day. However, the formula is too dry and sets so quickly that it pills easily, making application frustrating. It also didn’t do much to minimize my fine lines. I don’t recommend this primer.The Plump Shot Fill & Blur Syringe Face Primer is formulated to minimize the appearance of pores, blur skin texture, and create a matte, soft-focus finish. Its main ingredients include niacinamide, which helps brighten the skin tone and lessen the appearance of pores, and peony stem cells, which help condition and plump the skin to minimize the look of wrinkles over time.I really wanted to try this primer because it’s made for oily skin and promises to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I have a few fine lines on my forehead and under my eyes that I want to minimize, even if it’s just temporarily.Product UseThe unscented primer has a thicker, drier texture than most primers I’ve used, even those made for oily skin. It worked better when I applied a small amount to one area of my face at a time and blended it quickly. If I tried to spread it over too large an area, it dried down too fast and pilled a lot, even though I wasn’t rubbing it back and forth.Once I adjusted my application technique, it performed a little better, but it still felt too dry. I had to correct this with a hydrating mist, and applying it a little at a time made the process take much longer than it should. I took a star off because of the dryness, pilling, and how difficult it was to apply without the formula pilling.I also tried mixing it with a hydrating primer to keep it from drying down too quickly and feeling so dry. That helped, but I still couldn’t get it to work correctly by itself.Results (without anything added)After application, my skin looked a little smoother with a soft-focus effect. My pores appeared less visible, and my makeup applied evenly over the primer. It only helped control shine for less than half the day, so I took a star off for that.Unfortunately, it didn’t do much to minimize my fine lines, so I took another star off for that. Even after swiping the primer on once or tapping it on once with the silicone tip, I could still see my fine lines.I also tried applying two layers without rubbing back and forth—first swiping once and letting it dry, then applying a second layer. I also tried applying the second layer without letting the first dry completely. Unfortunately, the primer still pilled, so neither method worked for me.RecommendationI unfortunately can’t recommend this primer because it was too dry, took too long to apply without pilling, only controlled shine for about half the day, and didn’t minimize my fine lines very well. I really wanted to like this primer and make it work, but it just didn’t work for me. Because of that, I don’t think it’s a good value for the price.

Works fine but I’ll stick with my drugstore primer
The packaging is cool and I love how hygienic it is, but I did question whether I got an old product because it took about 50 pumps to get it to come out, and when it did, it was a paste–so much thicker than I was anticipating! I was worried it would ball up and pill off my skin, but it actually applied quite smoothly, even over freshly applied moisturizer (I have super dry spots so I apply a lot of moisturizer). It did a great job of mattifying and decreasing the appearance of my pores (mainly by mattifying) and appeared to last to the end of the day. It did not appear to help with the flaky area around my chin, as that started flaking toward the end of the day as usual, and I didn’t notice any plumping. I will continue to use the rest of the product but I honestly don’t think I’ll reorder due to the price and size of the product (as well as my suspicion that a large portion of the container was air). It’s nice, but not dramatic enough of a difference to be worth the price for me.

There is a trick to it!
TL;DR First use-point down and press clicker 20-30 times until product dispenses. A little goes a long way! Use the angled to tip to apply to creased areas, then gently tap in and blend in one direction and avoid rubbing back and forth.If you have deep creases anywhere on your face, this should work for you. I can’t speak to the long-term impact of the skincare ingredients in the product, as that will take time and consistent use, and I don’t use this daily. I use it when I know I’ll be interacting with a number of people throughout the day, and I feel lucky that I have time to myself fairly frequently.Though the very short video in the listing is fairly informative, I was surprised that it misses a key focus: Apply in ONE DIRECTION ONLY – do no rub back and forth. It’s so easy to forget that, but I found that it was more likely to pill up. I believe there are silicones in this, and they don’t always play nicely with a lot of handling. Less is better. And I always make sure to allow it to completely set before adding anything on top. There are plenty of days when I wear this alone, or add only a light layer of cream blush to my cheeks.There are some similar products on the market between $30-$40, so the price seems right around the same. This is a novel package for this type of product, and the angled tip makes it easy to use. I’d recommend this, though I would try to buy it when it’s on sale!

Silicone-Compatible Prep Make This Hydrating Primer Work for Mature, Dry Skin
I love buxom products and primers have always been a bit tricky so trying this was definitely exciting.I have dry mature skin so knowing this is silicone based I made sure I went and used a hydrating serum underneath something like beta glucan or even a really good Creamy toner. I just don’t like applying too much skincare because it can cause everything to slide around and Actually make the formula not absorb atleast not evenly. This specific primer feels very hydrating it almost has a cooling sensation but nothing awkward like a menthol type feel just refreshing and even gave me a slight lifted effect. That I definitely didn’t anticipate but it was nice since my face has lots of puffiness and slight lines around my mouth. It does feel very lightweight but I’d absolutely recommend on using it on targeted areas And try using your other primer on the other spots but make sure it’s a silicone based one just like this since it could make your makeup perform differently I’d you gave two different based primers like oil, water, silicone for example. I used this with my regular foundation and I got a really smooth lifted look that lasted a good 5-6 hours. I wouldn’t say it’s that overnight type of lasting power but it was great for the amount of time it did last and in all reality that’s only as long as I wear foundation Anyway. I probably wouldn’t reccommend this for a tinted moisturizer or just a skin enhancer type coverage but for a decent foundation with light to medium viscosity this will work great or did for me given the steps I used beforehand. I do think the pump is kind of fun but can also be a little worrisome since you have to make sure it’s twisted to the side to be locked closed. If you’re like me and can’t remember these things I’d definitely be careful or you can have a swirly mess everywhere lol. I will say that it does feel like a good quality primer and different then alot of formulas I’ve tried that either sat on top of my skin, didn’t dry or did and made me look dry. This isn’t going to give a glowy look but it doesn’t claim to. It does give a smooth and lifted look but you can get the glowy finish with whatever you put on after this. Try pairing it with a luminous or hydrating foundation that was another part of how I got a very seamless look that was not only smooth and lifted but combined a glass like glow. There’s also glow or luminous setting sprays that will lick it in but did the fine line filling effect this formula was pretty spot on and for the time I wore it I didn’t have any pilling which I almost always have with certain products. I think this formula will especially be amazing for someone with normal to even possibly oily skin. It also worked for my mature dry skin. You just needed a little prep beforehand that really made a difference and locked it in.

Not Buxom’s greatest product.
I am a huge fan of Buxom lip products so I was excited to try this Buxom Plump Shot Fill & Blur Syringe Face Primer. The “syringe” came nicely packaged. I must say, the designer of this applicator was creative. The primer comes in a “syringe” to give you that “fill” but without a needle. It’s a cute touch to the product.The product applied smoothly and easily. After application and the setting time, I was slightly disappointed. Although I could tell a small difference, I don’t feel the cost of the product makes this average product a good value. While Buxom usually delivers a quality product, this primer definitely has room for improvement.As someone who rarely wears foundation, this primer actually could work as a foundation for me. There is no color but the products feels nice and natural on the face. The blurring effect would give just enough to appear as though a light foundation layer was applied. Again, the blur effect is barely noticeable, however. You can see in the before and after that the differences are ever so slight. While I don’t expect miracles in a bottle, this product is not one I would plan on purchasing. The product may work wonders for someone who is just starting to develop some aging skin but it did not work for my older skin.

Pricey, but the Performance Is Impressive
This primer is pretty amazing. It went on smoothly, sat beautifully under my makeup, and I did not have any problems with pilling. My foundation and concealer layered over it really nicely and everything looked smooth rather than heavy or separated. What impressed me most was how well my makeup lasted. I wore it through an entire day and my makeup still looked remarkably fresh by the end of it. I did not feel like I needed to constantly touch things up, and it really seemed to help everything stay where I put it. It is also fragrance free, which I appreciate in a face product. There was no strong perfume or lingering scent competing with the rest of my skincare and makeup. The formula itself feels lightweight and comfortable and gives the skin a nice smooth base without feeling greasy or overly slick. The only real downside is the value. You are getting a fairly small amount of product for the price, so this is definitely more of a splurge than an inexpensive everyday primer. That said, because it performed so well for me, I can actually understand the higher price. A little goes a long way and I would rather use a small amount of something that keeps my makeup looking good all day than constantly fight with a cheaper primer that pills or does not hold up. Overall, I am really impressed. It is smooth, comfortable, fragrance free, did not pill on me, and helped my makeup last all day. The price is higher than I normally expect from a primer this size, but the performance makes the value much easier to justify.

Hygienic pump but doesn’t absorb well into my skin and rolls off
Pros: I have used quite a few Buxom products before, including a couple of their lip plumpers, and I always appreciate that the packaging feels a little more elevated than a typical drugstore primer. The Buxom Plump Shot Fill and Blur Syringe Face Primer comes in this syringe style pump that dispenses only the amount you need, which I actually think is a smart and hygienic way to package a treatment primer like this. It did take me a minute to figure out how to unlock it since you have to push the base fairly hard to get it past a little plastic divider before it will twist, but once I got past that part the pump itself worked easily and a little goes a long way. I applied it to clean, dry skin after my usual skincare routine and let it fully absorb before starting my makeup, which is the order Buxom recommends for this primer to work as intended.Cons: Once I got the hang of the pump I ended up dispensing more product than I actually needed, so I would suggest going slowly with it the first time you use it. I have mature, oily combination skin with some crepiness and crow’s feet forming under my eyes, so I was really hoping this would blur and soften those areas the way Buxom describes. Unfortunately I did not notice much blurring right after I applied it, and once I started layering concealer on top I could actually feel the primer rolling and flaking under my fingers instead of settling smoothly into my skin. It never fully absorbed the way I expected a Buxom treatment primer to, and that rolling texture made my under eye area look worse rather than better once concealer went on. I have tried other line filling primers, including one from Laura Geller that gave me a very similar rolling and flaking result, and an undereye balm from R.E.M. Beauty that absorbed and blurred noticeably better on my skin than this one did. It is possible this formula simply does not agree with my particular skin type, but between the tricky pump and the disappointing wear under makeup, this was a miss for me even though I generally enjoy Buxom as a brand.
