When Chantecaille Calls, I Pay AttentionWhen I see the name Chantecaille, I pay attention. I get excited, curious, and want to know what all the hoopla is about because this is a brand I’ve used and loved for well over 15 years. Their Lip Chic is my No. 1 everyday, purse-carrying lipstick on the planet, and this makeup-loving gal has a rather impressive lippie drawer ranging from favorite drugstore finds to some of the most luxurious formulas available here and abroad. That drawer simply wouldn’t be the same without several tubes of Lip Chic. So when Perfect Blur popped up, I immediately thought about my Chantecaille bronzer and blush, their beautifully finely milled powders, and how much I swoon over them. Naturally, into my cart she went.A Whisper of Powder Is All I NeedI chose Light/Medium and have been wearing it for a couple of weeks now. After applying my lightweight hydrating gel foundation, I let everything settle, apply my bronzer and blush, then use a fluffy brush to sweep the smallest amount of Perfect Blur over my face. And I do mean a small amount. This is an ultra-fine gel-powder with sheer coverage, and on my terribly dry skin, a light hand is all it takes. The powder feels exceptionally silky and weightless as it moves across the skin, smoothing and softly perfecting without leaving behind that obvious layer of powder sitting on top of my makeup.A Little Optical MagicThis formula uses optically correcting pearls and blurring spheres designed to minimize the appearance of pores, fine lines, and imperfections, and this is where Perfect Blur really shines for me. It gives my complexion a soft-focus quality without making my skin look artificial or overly perfected. Areas I’d rather not announce to the world become less noticeable, my skin tone appears more even, and everything simply looks smoother. Most importantly for me, I’ve had zero issues with the powder settling into fine lines or grabbing onto dry patches. It sets my makeup nicely and helps keep everything in place, yet it has never turned cakey, chalky, or heavy on me. That silky gel-powder texture seems to make all the difference. Overpriced imo and did not work for my skin
Pros: I like that this package looks and feels luxe. It has heft to it and it does seem like thought was put into the design.Cons: Ok, you and I both know that the price is OUTRAGEOUS! I did get this part of the vine program so I was elated to see this brand offered as I have never dedicated to buying their products. I have sampled many of their products in the past so I can say that I really enjoy their products, but I do think this one is not up to par. I say that for a few reasons. First, because it is listed as light/medium. All of their products on Amazon are SUPER light, but they do offer other shades on their site. However, they do not go very deep. To me a price point of 85 bucks AND to lump shades to light/medium is outrageous. You really can’t offer a dedicated shade for that price point? I am a light neutral olive skin tone and the light medium is way too orange and just too dark for my skin tone. As it is summer currently I am using it on areas where I am darker (nose and chin and some parts of my cheeks if I can get it to blend). However, in the winter I will try and use this as a bronzer since I do not want to waste it.When I apply this I feel like I have to rub quite hard on the compact to pick up product. I also notice that compared to other higher-end powders this clings and shows texture for me. It also looked splotchy when I tried to blend this out.DISCLAIMER: I want to end by saying that I do feel guilty about giving this product 2 stars seeing as it currently has a 4.7 rating. I do not know if this is just a me issue or what, but I just know I am disappointed with this product and I would be fuming if I had spent the $85 on it. I have very dry skin and do not put much make-up on so I am typically only applying this after my skincare (serum and sunscreen) absorbs and maybe some concealer or blush. I think if you are not dry and/or planning on wearing this with a full face this may work better for you. Sorry I could not give it a higher score, but I need to be honest. I would recommend trying one of their other products..

Beautiful Finishing Powder, But a Luxury Price
I really like this finishing powder. It has a very fine, silky texture and feels lightweight on the skin. It applies smoothly and gives my skin a nice, polished look without feeling heavy or looking cakey. The Light/Medium shade blends well and works nicely for my complexion.The compact itself feels very high quality and definitely has a luxury feel to it. One thing that surprised me, though, is that it does not come with a brush or sponge for application. The product description specifically mentions using the “Buff and Blur Brush,” but that brush is sold separately, so keep that in mind when purchasing.The biggest thing to consider with this powder is the price. This is a very expensive finishing powder, and at this price point, I think most people will expect it to do something noticeably better than more affordable options. I do like the way it looks on my skin, but I’m not sure everyone will feel the difference is enough to justify the cost.This is a beautiful product that feels special to use, but the high price and the additional cost of the recommended brush are definitely things to consider before buying.

Subtle, Blurred Finish; Expensive
I’ve never used a finishing powder, and in fact, didn’t really know what a finishing powder was for. I did a little research and found that setting powder sets liquids and creams so they don’t move once applied. Finishing powder is used after everything else to brighten and blur. I decided to give this Chantecaille Perfect Blur Finishing Powder a try just to see if it made a difference.I followed suggestions to apply all makeup, including setting powder, before brushing on this product. I thought that might be too much dustiness for one sitting, but I was wrong. The Chantecaille is advertised as having a lightweight, gel texture that produces a natural looking finish. Advertising is not always 100% accurate, but in this case it is. When I brushed this on, it felt very soft and blurred uneven texture. It produced just a hint of luminosity that brightened my face ever so slightly. I don’t know if my makeup lasting all day was the result of this finishing powder or the other products I used, but last all day it did. And it looked very good the entire time.The shiny gray compact is sleek and sophisticated, really beautiful. (Just an aside–it shows fingerprints more than a stainless steel refrigerator door.) The powder is pressed into a delicate sunburst pattern. There’s nothing plain about it, but pretty packages don’t always produce pretty results. This one does.The Chantecaille is a very good powder that yields subtle, but pretty results. Do I think everyone needs it? No. Is it a nice addition to a makeup routine? Yes. It comes with a hefty price tag, so it’s best for those who prefer a high-end product and who have a healthy budget to afford it.

Silky fine texture
I was surprised that this finishing powder is priced higher than the powder foundation. I’ve never used a finishing powder and Chantecaille products rarely disappoint so I was happy to give it a try and review. For me it’s a little too light in color for summertime makeup but I can still evaluate the texture and how effective it is for blurring and finishing. The packaging is lovely, the typical sleek shiny Chantecaille compact. This powder is similar to the powder blush in texture, it’s very silky and no fall out. I felt like I really didn’t need it all over my face but I loved using it to blur the “line” between my cheek blush and no blush areas. My blending efforts sometimes result in too much blush so I try to keep it up on my cheeks and this finishing powder provides a perfect natural blur where I need it. It’s not chalky but be careful not to be heavy handed with it. A little goes a long way. I love that it is unscented. At $85 it is definitely pricey but pretty typical for a high end luxury brand.I can see myself using more of this when I don’t have a summertime suntan. If you are routinely using a finishing powder as the final product in your make up routine, this one will not disappoint. While expensive it will last a long time. 5 stars from me.

Beautiful and feels high-end, but did not reduce sheen from zinc sunscreen
I love a cruelty free and beautifully packaged makeup brand, so I was really excited to try this.This power looks and feels very lovely in terms of quality packaging and product presentation, the embossed seal on the powder is so pretty I almost don’t want to use it. The compact/mirror was unfortunately damaged during shipping (I assume–see photo of dents on top) but the power itself did not break.I have been using really heavy and shiny zinc sunscreen the last few weeks after a laser procedure, so I was hoping this powder would remove the shine, or at least reduce it. I was really shocked to find that unfortunately it looks almost exactly the same after using the powder (I tried two applications in this pic)–not doing much at all for the sheen on my skin. It does feel nice and light, but for this price and the presentation, I just expected so much more. Maybe I used the wrong tool? (A large fluffy powder brush?) Or maybe I needed more layers or more robust movement of the brush on the surface of the powder to pick up more product?And, maybe this would perform well on bare skin, I have yet to see since I am still recovering I don’t want to apply just this to my skin. So for now I am going back to the cheap brands of loose powder until I can try this again.It has no scent, and did not bother my post-procedure (CO2 laser, 3.5 weeks ago) skin, so that is good news!

Chantecaille: No creasing or blotching
Chantecaille Perfect Blur Finishing Powder is a near-perfect powder. It is a nearly weightless formulation which keeps my makeup put, even on the hottest, muggiest days of the year. On those days, I have worn this powder and had my makeup stay on, with no eventual blotchiness or creasing. This powder does not appear ” powdery”, as in, it looks more like a finishing veil than a powder coat. While using a brush and swirling it on top of the powder, there is not really any powdery fallout from this product.When I apply this powder, I feel a slight cooling sensation. It lasts for a moment, and then disappears. The one drawback to this Chantecaille finishing powder is that the color may not appear as true as it does online. I received “Light/Medium” and it does oxidize ever-so-slightly orange. It is nearly undetectable, but I can tell.For a lovely powder that brushes on like magic, keeps your makeup on, and doesn’t crease or blotch, this is one of the finest. Highly recommended.
