Makes my skin glow. Smooth and flawless setting powder
The primer reminds me of Elizabeth Arden’s illumination cream that I’ve pretty much used every spring for 20 years. I love illumination products coming out of winter. Helps my skin transition into sun kissed summer tan.The primer is not drying. It has a yellow tone that blends perfectly with my yellow undertones. I feel like I can use less makeup and my skin still looks great.The banana powder is super fine dust. It also matches my yellow undertones. I’ve gotten away with Dermablend loose setting powder in original for winter but definitely need this for spring and summer. This powder is so good as long as you make sure you prep your skin correctly before dusting. Basically press your foundation, concealer until you hand tires, lol. Make sure there’s no build up in your creases, then dust. My skin looks so smooth. This is a great set.

Good name, good products
Dermablend makeup was originally developed to provide full coverage for birthmarks, bruising, surgical scars, tattoos, etc., that regular makeup couldn’t hide. Of course, most people don’t want or need such thorough coverage, but most of us can use a little help which brings us to the banana powder. While it is yellow, it doesn’t look yellow on your skin. It helps counter redness and brighten your skin. If applied as directed – pat on then brush off a few minutes later – it will set your makeup without getting cakey.As for the primer, I really like it, particularly for eyeshadow – when set with the banana powder, it is the perfect base for eyeshadows. Without powder, the primer itself creates a nice low-key shimmer if you don’t feel like wearing eyeshadow but want a little something extra. I don’t typically use shimmery products on my face because I don’t want to highlight my acne scars, but as a primer under foundation it works great, creating a nice smooth surface. It does not fill in scars and large pores to the degree of some others, but if that is not a major concern for you, you will likely be very happy with this primer. (If covering skin issues is something you want to work on, try it in conjunction with Dermablend’s foundation and/or concealer.) If all you want is a little shimmer on a no-makeup kind of day, this primer would work great on its own.Dermablend’s products do not come cheap, but if you want full coverage that doesn’t look like you’re wearing a mask, this brand is well worth it – especially if you have skin flaws you want to disguise. I only wish this had been around when I was younger and dealing with acne!

I love this
The primer is a medium conssitency cream that is contained in a tube. It is very easy to apply, spreads easily and feels great on my skin. After doing just this first stpe, my face looks more even toned and much brighter. I have very red, blotchy, uneven skin, so this says a lot!The banana powder is the best of it’s kind that I have tried. The color is kind of like a banana, but it doesn’t look that way once applied. It does what it is supposed to do!All in all, this is a great set by a great brand. For me, it is hit & miss if I always use the powder, but I will definitely be a repeat user of the primer!

Keeps makeup in place; looks dewy
I haven’t ever used Dermablend makeup products, so I was excited to try Dermablend Brilliant Base Illuminating Primer Face Makeup. It turned out to work beautifully! I like the way it looked on its own, without any makeup over it (my skin looked dewy and hydrated), and also the way it locked down the makeup and foundation when I wore makeup all day long.This product kept my makeup in place all day long, with no smudging or running. It also added a subtle glow to my face under all the makeup. Highly recommended.

A little pricey for a mediocre product.
I was hopeful that the results would be better, but they just aren’t. I don’t notice any huge difference from when I use less expensive products, or nothing at all. I’d rather buy more expensive foundation and skip this step.

I use this with my Dermablend CC foundation
I used this combo with the Dermablend CC Foundation. The primer applies smoothly and blends easily into my skin to create a nice base for my foundation without making my face feel oily or sticky. It provides SOME moisture but not a whole lot so I have to make sure I use something else prior or my face will definitely look cakey. I don’t feel like it does that great of a job covering the pores of my nose or my inner cheeks but it does seem to help my foundation stay in place throughout my 8 hour work day.I really enjoy this banana powder and like that it’s very finely milled. It provides a nice, subtle shimmer without making your face look like a shiny disco ball, which would be the worse thing for my oily skin. I’ve actually just been patting it on but from reading the other reviews, I think I’ve been applying it all wrong!

Love the powder, but not sure about the primer
Great illuminating setting powder however I am not too crazy about the primer. The primer is a very lightweight, smooth formula that is easy to apply. I have very sensitive skin and using this primer as a base for my make did not cause any irritation, breakouts or allergic reactions on my skin which is positive for me. The illuminating effect is nice for certain occasions but not something I look for in my everyday makeup routine. Also because of the illuminating effect, I like to use this as a primer on certain areas of my face such as my eyelids and cheekbones vs. applying it to my entire face , this is just a personal preference though. To note, the primer did keep my make up in place throughout the day and did not dry out my skin however in my opinion there are comparable products on the market for a lower price point. What makes me not like this primer, is the smell. Since this is my first time trying this primer, I am uncertain if this is how it should smell or if I just received a “bad” tube, but to me, the primer has an unpleasant smell that reminds me of palydough or a craft/molding clay. The smell seems to linger for hours after application (or until I get used to it and just don’t notice it anymore) so I do not reach for this primer as a go to product.On the other hand, the banana powder is a winner. It has a nice fine texture that helps to set my makeup. The illuminating properties add an extra dimension to my look, making me look more awake and refreshed. Although the powder is yellow it blends out nicely and does not look yellow on my skin tone or cakey in the end. Also to note, the powder does not have an unpleasant smell to me like the primer does. However, similar to the primer, there are other products on the market comparable to this powder at a lower price point.To sum this up, both the primer and powder are nice products with nice qualities The primer has a bit of an unpleasant smell and the powder does not. If looking for an illuminating effect, this primer and powder might be a good product for you at a higher price point that might be worth it for everyday use.
