Nice grippy primer.
I’ve been using this primer for a few weeks and I like it a lot. I think the packaging is simple and chic (I love a pump bottle!), and the pump dispenses a perfect amount. It has a slightly grippy texture — I wouldn’t call it particularly hydrating or mattifying, but it works well with my combo skin. My makeup looks lovely on. Another win from Espoir.

Product was very good, took a minute of pumping to get the first amount of product out. The primary is very good and doesn’t take long to become semi sticky so the makeup will stick. My skin felt like I was able to still breathe and not suffocated.

Best eye primer
I tried using this primer on my face and didn’t like how it looked or felt. This is a more tacky feeling primer to help products stay put. I use a lot of light products and spf, I don’t think those go together well. But, I have been using this as eyeshadow primer and it’s the best thing I have every used. My shadow stays put, all day for 10 hours. I have very oily lids and this prevents creasing of the product. I used my shadow as eyeliner too and I have been so impressed on how this holds the shadow color all day, minimal fading. This will last me a long time and I would definitely repurchase again once out. This is my holy grail eye primer.

I was excited to use this primer, as Espoir makes good products, and I had seen many positive reviews. But for me it was just okay. It definitely does not dry your skin and it’s actually non-sticky, so you don’t have to worry about it causing your foundation to be cakey. It applies thin and smoothly. But the downside to that is that it doesn’t really feel like there’s a firm primer on the skin. Sure, the foundation feels more “attached” than “applied” while using this, but the effect isn’t drastic. And the biggest disappointment was that it doesn’t cover your pores. Considering the brand value and the size, the price is reasonable, but for me, doing makeup without it would not make a big difference. I am giving it the middle 3 stars though, because I like that the product is a pump (not squeezing) and the primer itself is light and easy on the skin.

The BEST primer I’ve ever tried
This primer is *perfection* — they must’ve used magic or something when creating this, hahaha, cuz it does everything I could possibly want from a primer. It’s grippy without feeling sticky/making my face feel stiff, hydrates without being greasy or slippery, and blurs without being all silicone-y and clogging my pores. It also makes my makeup go on SO nicely and last all day, even in extremely hot and humid Virginia weather, where the humidity alone can cause makeup to break up, and then if I start sweating, it’s toast. The first time I used this primer, I was wearing a fully made-up face and I had to unexpectedly take a very rushed 30min walk in super hot/humid weather, I was sweating and when I reached my destination, I was afraid to see my makeup situation but to my delight, it actually looked fantastic. I had on this primer + Jouer brightening pressed powder + sheglam blurring loose powder. Nothing creased, broke up, slid around, settled weird, sweated off etc and it looked the same as when I had left the house…. I was flabbergasted (in a good way!) This primer is also very comfortable to wear and only my foundation sticks to it, not my hair (my hair would stick to my face SO badly with that green ELF gripping primer, plus crumbs, cat hair, and anything else, plus it made my face SO stiff feeling, this Espoir primer in comparison has all the pros of the ELF primer with NONE of the cons!), it hydrates and protects my skin, doesn’t clog my pores or cause irritation, and is easy to take off fully at the end of the day (I double cleanse, which is an oil cleanser then a normal water-based cleanser, and doing that completely removes all traces of this primer and all my other makeup). I’ve also tried this primer with a wide variety of foundations — from full coverage liquid foundations, lighter liquid foundations, cushion foundations (matte, dewy, and in between), to tinted moisturizers and it works super well with every foundation I’ve paired it with. You also don’t need very much product for this primer to work its magic; one pump is sufficient to cover my whole face with a thin layer (I’ll usually do 2 thin layers in my problem areas — nose and chin) and it doesn’t affect or change the shade of whatever foundation I’m using with it that day. It’s pricy for a primer but it’s 100% worth it and it’s on my “definite re-buy” list. I can’t recommend this primer enough!
