Blurring/mattifying -> but no oil control
For the price, this is a decent primer. But for the price, you’re also not going to get the full effect of everything it claims to do.Blurring/matte? Yes, absolutely. Oil control? No lol. Oil control is not creating a matte base that offers no longevity for truly controlling oil. So if you want a very cost efficient primer that will provide a smooth, blurring, matte base, this is definitely a great option. If you’re looking for a true oil control primer that helps manage oil all day, this is not the one.

This primer stick is really convenient, especially for quick touch ups or days when you want something easy and mess free. It goes on smooth and has that soft blur effect that helps minimize the look of pores and gives makeup a more even base. The mattifying feel is noticeable, so it helps control shine throughout the day without needing a full reset of your makeup. Probably not for mature and drier skin
I’m probably going to be in the minority here as I don’t really care for this stick. Maybe some of that is due to my skin being more on the dry side than oily. I only say that since it has a charcoal based center for oil control, and also speaks to using it later in the day for oil blotting. I have fine lines due to age and I just didn’t feel like the product glided smoothly over my skin. While it says it will blur pores, it didn’t seem to blur anything on my skin.

It does a reasonable job at controlling oil and reducing shine, which is really the main benefit I noticed when using it.In terms of texture and finish, I wouldn’t describe it as pore blurring or soft focus. It doesn’t really create that smooth, filtered effect some primers promise. Instead, it feels more like a straightforward mattifying product that helps keep excess oil in check, especially in targeted areas.I do appreciate the inclusion of charcoal and silica, which likely contribute to the oil absorbing effect. Because of that, I personally prefer to use it only on my nose or other small oily areas rather than applying it all over my face, as it can feel a bit drying if overused.The packaging is convenient, and the stick format makes it easy to apply without mess. I have been needing a new primer stick for pore bluring in my makeup routine. I have found that using a matte blur stick really helps with my older skin that is in the middle ground of aging. I have been enjoying the items I have from this brand in skincare and in makeup like items. Everything has been very helpful for me.I have normal or combination skin that is senstive but mostly to fragrance. I do not have oily skin so the charcoal isn’t needed but occassionally I am sweaty when I need a touch up. I do not always wear full face makeup. Often I use a blur stick, correction cream for redness and a powder if I feel like I might need it. Very old school but it works for my day to day busy mom lifestyle at home.This is very smooth blur stick with a nice grip on my skin. I am able to put on full makeup and sunscreen with this on. I usually put on sunscreen first, and this still blended well on top. I really like that it is a nice size too. The stick fits in my purse well, and doesn’t take up too much space on the shelf.I like that the product stick fully lifts from the base as some others I have used scrape from the lip of the container. The tube goes up and down smoothly to put the cap back on too. I like that there was a small inner cap but I don’t use them as I move forward because I always loose them.There is much more product in this blur stick for the price so I am really happy with that personally. I use blur and smooth sticks the most out of my basics along side redness correction. I also really like the quality as I do not have a surge in redness. The slight cast from the stick on my skin also covers lighter areas of red on places like my nose and eyebrows, and some of the cheek and chin areas that need something smoothing due to aging skin.I really like this brand and I am really happy with the results. I will use this stick regularly in my routine.

Decent primer, but the form factor doesn’t really work for me
This perfecting primer stick from MCoBeauty is an interesting format for a primer, as I’ve never used a stick format before. The stick has a white outside, which is meant to help blur pores and imperfection, and then an inner charcoal core, that’s meant to help absorb and control oil.In terms of blurring, I do think the stick does a great job. It definitely helps blur the look of my pores and give my skin a more even appearance. I think it even does a decent job as a primer to help my makeup stick to my face. As for oil control, I don’t really think this does anything for that as far as I can tell. My other issue with it is that the stick goes on clear, so it’s really hard to tell if you’ve gotten full coverage. I try to go around my entire face with the stick as much as I can, and then use my hands to spread the primer into my skin to hopefully get everything covered, but there’s really no way to tell, at least not in the same way you could with a liquid formula. I think it holds up well enough during the day, and is at least comparable to other drugstore brand primers I’ve used.Overall, I think it’s a decent primer, but the form factor just doesn’t work for me. I think I’m going to stick to liquid primers, which are easier to use/dispense, and have more grip. I may still use this to help blur my skin, and then use a different primer on top as the main primer.

Blurring effect
I like using this on my forehead lines and my 11s before applying my foundation. I feel like it helps fill in (I’m 35 so they aren’t super deep, but still annoying). It really does have a blurring effect. I use it under my EL double wear foundation just on my forehead and it doesn’t make it separate or do anything funky. I haven’t tried it all over my face. Give it a shot!

You’re still applying it to your face, so where exactly does that oil go? My best guess is that it works like talc — trapping shine rather than removing it — but I’m not entirely sure I understand how talc works either, lol.VALUE: At around $16, the price is almost double what my usual pump-tube primer costs. The cost isn’t a deal breaker on its own, but how long the product lasts and how it holds up in humid weather will determine whether I buy it again, or fall back on my budget go-to.
