Small Palette, Great Neutrals & Surprisingly Good Staying Power!
I have quite a few eyeshadow palettes (some of which have an absolutely ridiculous number of colours that I will probably never touch 🙄🤷🏻♀️), so what actually attracted me to this one was how simple and practical it is. You get six neutral shades in different taupe, beige and brown tones—and, more importantly, they are six colours I genuinely use often!The palette itself is quite small and compact, which I personally LOVE. It takes up almost no room in my makeup bag and is really easy to throw into my purse, work bag or carry-on when travelling. There’s also a built-in mirror, so I don’t need to carry a separate one if I want to apply my makeup or do a quick touch-up while I’m out.The eyeshadows themselves really surprised me in a good way. The powders have a very fine, silky and smooth texture and apply beautifully. I didn’t find them chunky or flaky, and I didn’t end up with a bunch of fallout underneath my eyes—which is always appreciated because nothing ruins freshly applied concealer faster than deciding to do your eyeshadow AFTERWARDS (yes, I occasionally make questionable makeup decisions 😂).They’re also nicely pigmented. You don’t have to keep digging into the pan and layering endlessly before the colour actually shows up, but at the same time they’re easy enough to blend and build that I don’t suddenly end up with WAY more colour than I intended. A little product goes a surprisingly long way.I particularly like the range of shades they chose. The lighter neutrals work really well for a simple everyday eye, especially when I’m getting ready for work and don’t want anything too dramatic, while the deeper browns and taupes can add definition or be built up into more of a smoky eye for the evening. The colours complement each other really well too, so you can mix and layer them depending on the look you want.They’re described as matte, although there’s almost a very subtle sheen to some of the colours. It’s NOT glittery or sparkly by any means—just enough that the finish doesn’t look completely flat or chalky on the eyelids. Personally, I actually prefer that, especially on more mature skin, because very dry-looking matte shadows aren’t always particularly forgiving when it comes to hiding my (not so) fine lines and wrinkles.They’re also very lightweight once applied, with no sticky or tacky feeling. Once I’ve blended everything, I basically forget I’m wearing eyeshadow.The staying power has been really good too. I have combination skin with an oily T-zone and makeup can sometimes decide that remaining exactly where I put it was merely a suggestion 🙄. These held up surprisingly well without noticeably smudging or disappearing as the day went on, despite the fact that I tend to rub my eyes, especially later in the day when they get tired from looking at my screen. The listing describes them as long-lasting and waterproof, and while I’m not planning to go swimming in my eyeshadow in the name of product testing 🤣, I’ve definitely been impressed with how well they stay put during normal wear.I also appreciate that the formula is vegan and cruelty-free. That’s not necessarily the first thing I look at when choosing an eyeshadow palette, but it’s definitely a nice additional bonus.My only suggestion would be to keep the palette reasonably well protected if you’re throwing it into your luggage. Mine was fine, but with fine powder eyeshadows, baggage handlers aren’t exactly a combination I like gambling on.Overall, I think this is great value for the price. I’d much rather have a small palette with six flattering, versatile shades I genuinely use than a giant one with 30 colours sitting there looking pretty while I repeatedly reach for the same four.Definitely recommend with 2 thumbs up! 👍🏼👍🏼
