I wanted a cheaper alternative to MAC and so after looking around I got this one. I love the applicator, extremely easy to use and coats eyelid evenly. I also love how awesome my eyeshadow pops with this underneath it and it stays ALL day with no creases even though I got creases with the more expensive MAC primers. Just make sure you have eye makeup remover because it works so well it can be hard to get off ;0) Wonderful product!Update – I got a sample of TooFaced Shadow Insurance and was shocked to find that I got creases within a few hours of using it. It’s way more expensive and didn’t work half as well as the NYX, which I switched back to immediately.

This really makes colors pop and STAY.
Using this dramatically increases the pigmentation of my eyeshadows. It’s essentially sheer once it goes on, but it seems to suck in the shadow and hold it in place.It also REALLY increases the staying power of my shadows. I used it as a base to swatch a bunch of colors on my forearm the other day. After hours rubbing against the inside of my sleeve the colors still popped and only faint traces transferred onto the sleeve. Even after running water and handsoap over it, a surprising amount of shadow stayed in place. I had to use face wash to get the swatches to come all the way off.Of course the downside is that when I wash my face at night I have to work a little more intensely over the lids, but it’s a pretty reasonable trade off for day-long pigment.

Oh this product is great! I have always used “department store” cosmetics since I have very sensitive skin and have to be-careful. On a recommendation, I tried this product (for the price, why not!) and I love it! I say it works just as well if not better than some higher end eye primers. I didn’t have any reaction at all to it. I really liked the applicator since I prefer not to use my fingers to put it on. I lasted all day and night, didn’t alter the color of my eye shadows, and was very easy to get off. The only things I noticed was it took longer to dry than some of my other primers so I had to get used to that. I recommend it!

This is my go-to eye shadow primer. I have used high-end eye primers that cost $20 for the same sized bottle but I find that the NYX one works just as well. I can sweat and workout even and my eye shadow still stays on! I am on my 5th bottle of this and keep re-purchasing!

This product is definitely a HG of mine!The applicator allows the product to apply to my eyelid smoothly and the product itself takes a few minutes to dry. After I allow the product to dry I am then able to apply my eye shadow. This evens out my eye lid’s skin tone and allows for an even and smooth application base for my eyeliner.For the price, you definitely can’t beat it! The eye shadows go on your lid smoothly and last all day for me!I can apply my eye shadow at 8 o’clock in the morning and I know that my eye shadow will still be rocking 12-14 hours later. I am seriously impressed with this product and glad that I no longer have to spend about 20 bucks on the expensive Urban Decay eye shadow bases.This is just another product that NYX has that just blows me away.

Awesome eyeshadow primer
This stuff is seriously awesome. I prefer this tube version of NYX’s eye shadow base as opposed to their gel-pot version, as that one goes on really thick and makes my eyeshadow all goopy. This one, however, is awesome. I bought it months ago and I’m not even through the whole tube. You only need a little bit of it to cover your whole lid. The applicator wand does a good job of distributing product. I have relatively sensitive eyes and this doesn’t make my eyes sting or swell at all. It also helps keep my eyeshadow and eyeliner on all day long, even after an 8-hour shift where I’m constantly on my feet. It holds up really well with sweat, too- if I don’t use this under my eyeshadow before I go to the gym, my eyes become a smudgy mess.This stuff is awesome, cheap, and lasts a long time.Update: after using this for almost a year almost every day, I finally had to buy a new tube. This stuff lasts long and performs really well. It was again delivered on-time and in the condition described, and wrapped in original sealed plastic. Love this stuff!

Finally a primer that works.
This product lasts all day. For years I have fought with my eyeliner transferring to my lid over the course of the day, leaving ugly dark marks up on my lids. I have tried so many techniques and products to fix it without any success until this one. My eyeliner stays put all day. I don’t find the product overly thick or hard to use. I apply dots to the whole lid area with the applicator. Then, I use a brush to blend in completely. It only takes a second or two to finish drying. Eyeliner and eye shadow alike both stay put and look the same at supper as they did when I put them on in the morning. Will be purchasing this again.

Tacky when dry– good for keeping eyeshadow locked in place
This is a different type of eye shadow base for me. I have previously used Too Faced primer, and I really liked it. I was looking for a slightly less expensive option to put in my make-up travel bag, so based on the positive reviews and low price point, decided to give the NYX High Definition Eye Shadow Base a try. As an eye shadow primer, it works well. Some reviewers stated it takes forever to dry. I didn’t necessarily experience that, but instead noticed that it stays tacky, even when it dries. This is good, as it locks my UD eyeshadow into place without visible creasing. I was curious if this could also be used as a under-eye base… but since it stays tacky I didn’t like it as an under-eye base. Not quite the right formulation for that purpose. It is also worth noting, that on my light colored skin, there is no noticeable color to this base.

Thinner formula than UD, leaves residue
I used to wear eyeshadow without primer for a long time, but have been using primer for the last 2-3 years. I would say this primer is OK, it does the job of helping extend the wear time of eyeshadow, but it isn’t as effective on me as UD’s primer potion. It also has a more liquid formula that takes longer to dry in my experience, and leaves a bit of a cakey residue that settles in the creases of my eyelid. I still get some color fallout when I use this primer, which is a bummer. I like some of NYX’s stuff, but probably wouldn’t purchase this particular item again.
