My New Holy Grail Eyeliner! Waterproof, Lightning Fast Dry Time & Somehow Still Easy to Remove

I think every liquid eyeliner wearer has the same lifelong goal: find the one. You know, the black liquid liner that doesn’t run the second it sees water, can survive forehead sweat during a heatwave, dries before you’ve aged another year waiting for it, and hopefully doesn’t cost luxury-brand prices to accomplish all that.I’ve had a bit of a love-hate relationship with Tarte over the years, but this eyeliner may have officially put them back at the top of my list. When I first read the product description, I was honestly confused. Waterproof… but it removes in little tubes? You can basically peel it off with warm water? Who in the Alys Rivers level of witchcraft came up with this concept? Then I actually tried it.The very first thing I noticed was how smooth the applicator felt. The flexible tip glides across my lash line with no tugging, which is something my eyelids definitely appreciate these days. The black pigment is also exactly what I want from a liquid liner: rich, deep, true black from the very first stroke without needing to go back over it.Then came the real test.I have hooded eyes, which means if I don’t spend several minutes staring into a fan waiting for eyeliner to dry, my lid usually stamps the entire line into my crease the second I relax my eyes. Out of habit I almost froze in place… but before I even had time to think about it, maybe 30 seconds later, I let my eyelids close naturally.Nothing.No transfer. No black line in my crease. It was already dry to the touch.I wore it through gardening, sweating outside, getting caught in a little rain, and then later that evening I dyed my hair. I wasn’t even wearing primer, foundation, or any other eye makeup, just the eyeliner by itself. Without thinking, I leaned under the faucet to rinse my hair with cold water while shampoo and soapy water ran all over my face. I rubbed around my eyes multiple times and fully expected to emerge looking like a raccoon.Instead, I came back up and just stared in the mirror. The tiny wing at the very end had finally surrendered, but the main line along my lash line was still there. No patchiness, no smudges, no weird gaps. I was genuinely impressed.Despite all that staying power, removal wasn’t nearly as dramatic as I expected. Using a warm, damp makeup cloth, the liner eventually released in those little tubing pieces just like advertised. I did have to go over it a few times because this liner clearly wanted to stick around as my ride-or-die, but I never had to scrub aggressively or irritate my eyes.At around $24, I honestly think this is an excellent value. Between the intense pigmentation, ridiculously fast dry time, waterproof performance, comfortable flexible formula, and surprisingly gentle removal, it checks just about every box I’ve been looking for in a liquid liner.Finding a truly great black eyeliner feels a little like finding a unicorn. I wasn’t expecting this one to become my new favorite, but here we are. If you’ve been chasing that elusive combination of precision, longevity, waterproof wear, and easy removal, Tarte absolutely nailed it with this formula. This has officially earned a permanent spot in my makeup bag.

tarte tartelette Quick Stick Tubing Liquid Liner, black

Bought this because my old liquid liner kept flaking off by lunchtime and I was tired of it. The tip is felt, kind of like a marker, and it’s stiffer than I expected from the photos. It dries fast, like actually fast, not the fake fast that other brands claim. I have hooded lids so normally my liner transfers into my crease within the hour, and with this one it just didn’t happen. Tested it on a day I was doing yard work in the heat and sweating, and it stayed put through all of that.Removal is where people seem to disagree. Mine peeled off in little rubbery pieces with a warm washcloth just like the tubing mascaras do, no scrubbing needed, though I did have to go over the corner of my eye twice. My sister tried it after me and said hers just flaked off in random bits instead of the clean peel, so I guess it depends on how thick you put it on. Worth the $24 for me, but I wouldn’t call it foolproof.

    Great mascara!

Really great liquid eyeliner! Shortly after trying this I ended up switching to Tarte’s brand of mascara too, because I loved the eyeliner so much. It goes on really easy and tubes right now.

MY “I HAVE FIVE MINUTES TO GET READY” EYELINER ✨👁️

I am extremely picky about liquid eyeliner because I want a defined eye, but I do not always have the patience or time to sit in front of a mirror fixing uneven liner. As a busy mom who is usually getting ready while simultaneously thinking about ten other things, the applicator on this has been a huge part of why I enjoy using it.The flex tip gives me enough control to get close to my lash line and create a clean, precise look without having to press hard. I can keep the line thin for everyday makeup or build it up a little when I want my eyes to look more dramatic. It feels much easier to control than some very stiff liquid liner applicators I have used. What really makes this different for me is the tubing formula. Once it is set, I do not feel like I have to keep checking the corners of my eyes throughout the day wondering if my liner has migrated. That is especially helpful during long days when I am working, running errands and doing mom life without having time for makeup touch ups.Removal is another big win. I love long wearing makeup, but I absolutely do not love scrubbing my eye area at night. Being able to remove this more easily makes it much more realistic for me to reach for regularly. It gives me the polished look I want without turning eyeliner into a whole production. Precise application, comfortable wear and easier removal make this a five star beauty find for my routine. ✨

    Very crisp line

I ordered the tarte tartelette quick stick tubing liquid liner because tarte is a brand that I see promoted a lot and it always has great reviews. I could not wait to try it, but I was disappointed. This is not the eyeliner for me. I am used to using a soft pencil eyeliner that is able to be smudged a little and any little wiggles corrected. This eyeliner is like a marker. It draws a very crisp, very black line. If that is what you are looking for, then this is perfect for that. As I am not used to that style of liner, I found it a little hard to use, and it was very harsh looking. It looks like it is a quality product and it definitely stayed on well until I took it off. Since this is about five times the price of my normal eyeliner that I love, I will not be buying it again. But if you are looking for a very crisp, very dark line, this is probably a decent value.

    Nice

I’ve tried a lot of liquid eyeliners over the years, and this one really stands out, though it may not be for everyone. The felt-tip applicator is smooth, flexible, and easy to control, delivering a crisp, deep black line in one pass. It dries impressively fast, which is a huge plus for my hooded eyes since it doesn’t transfer or smudge once set.The tubing formula is a bit different from traditional liners. You do need to work quickly, because once it dries, layering over it can cause it to lift or peel. That said, mistakes are surprisingly easy to fix with a damp fingertip, so I didn’t find that to be a dealbreaker.Where this liner really shines is its staying power. I’ve worn it in heat, humidity, rain, and even water, and it held up incredibly well without flaking or smudging. Despite that, removal is gentle: warm water and a cloth loosen it into little tube-like pieces without the need for harsh rubbing. The finish is bold and defined, which I personally love, but if you prefer a softer, smudged look like a pencil liner, this might feel a bit too sharp or unforgiving. The price is higher than basic liners, but considering the performance, I think it’s a good value.Overall, this has become a staple in my routine. It’s precise, long-lasting, and easy to remove, exactly what I look for in a reliable liquid liner

My winged liner survived in a swimming pool

I’ve used plenty of liquid eyeliners over the years, but tubing eyeliner was new to me. The first thing I noticed was how easy the applicator was to control. The flexible felt tip stayed nicely saturated without flooding, skipping, or making a mess, so drawing a wing felt easy and comfortable. The tubing formula does have one little personality trait. You need to work fairly quickly. Once it dries, going back over the same spot with a wet applicator starts activating the tubing layer and it can peel away instead of building on itself. The upside is that mistakes are ridiculously easy to fix. I could dampen my fingertip, wipe away a crooked section, and try again without having to start my whole eye over. That’s a trade I’ll happily make. The real test came later. I wore it on a hot day, sweat in it, and even jumped in the pool. It stayed exactly where I put it. Then that night I washed my face with warm water and the whole line lifted away just like tubing mascara. No raccoon eyes, no black smudges under my lashes, and no aggressive scrubbing. It was one of those rare makeup products that behaved exactly how I hoped it would.I also like that the formula goes beyond just pigment. It includes biotin, hyaluronic acid, ceramides, and vitamin B5, so it feels a little more thoughtful than a basic liquid liner. It’s vegan, safe for contact lens wearers, and the $24 price feels fair considering the performance. Pair this with a tubing mascara and you’ve basically created the easiest eye makeup routine to remove at the end of the day.
