Espoir Iconic Lip Stain The Red
Received one Espoir Iconic Lip Stain “The Red” in retail packagingThe packaging on this is very modern and classy. Most of the time I like a light shade, but I did like playing with a deeper color if I wanted a more dramatic look.I don’t know that I noticed any chapping of my lips from wearing this, which was nice. I don’t know that I noticed any moisturizing effect, though.Over the course of the day, I only reapplied like one or two times- after eating or drinking, for example. Otherwise, this stayed on very good.The application was easy with the applicator. Able to line the lips effectively.Did not feel overly greasy, nor heavy. Happy with the texture throughout the day. Very bold color, but there was some change depending on the lighting.Feels like an OK value for the money. The product is good, but maybe leaning towards being a bit expensive for my taste.

This lipstick is fantastic. It is the perfect red. It is transfer proof it lasts a very long time! I have a lot of reds in my collection from Fenty to Mac and the lights in between and this one is probably one of the best in my collection if you’re looking for a really good Red, you cannot go wrong with this one!

This is a product that it seems people have very different experiences with and I therefore think it is probably very user-specific in the way a cleansing oil is.For me, I didn’t really notice a scent other than the typical fruity K-beauty stain scent when first applying, but that passed quickly. I always apply lip stains on dry lips (after having done lip masks at night and exfoliating the following morning). For me, that helps the stain really adhere. I also never apply using the applicator wand; I always tap the wand onto a silicone lip brush and apply that way first. Sometimes I also line line OVER that and follow up with a second layer after the first layer is dried, but in these photos it was the single layer. Like all reds, it feathers and seeps in cracks and crevices. Obviously I would need to clean up the line with a liner after this was fully dry for a real look but the photos were just to illustrate how this applies as is.I always blot after applying and you can see on the tissue that when applied in a very thin layer and allowed to dry down, this has very little transfer when doing basic things like drinking hot drinks. However, if you rub your lips or wipe with a napkin rather than dab, it WILL come off, so try to avoid a lot of force.In indoor lighting, this looks very much like MAC Russian Red on my neutral-cool toned pale olive skin (shade 21/21N in Korean cushions). In outdoor lighting, however, it basically looks hot pink. I was a bit worried about that given that most of these universal-type products often pull very pink in the end and I think it’s hard to make a perfectly flattering red without considering skintone and undertones.I LOVE how it looks in indoor lighting, as I love the red lip look but hate having to reapply. Unfortunately, the bright pink is a no for me, even though it’s not particularly unflattering. It’s just very very bright, and I am very muted, so deeper tones and muted tones are more natural looking on my skin.For me I didn’t have the experience others did with it being oily or uneven; I think lip care and application play a big role here in how well this turns out. For me, had it stayed the deep Russian red, it would have been a five-star product.While it doesn’t feel heavy on the lips, do expect this to be a bit drying like all good lipstains; if you apply, blot, and reapply after fully drying, you can later add a balm or gloss on top if the dryness is too much for you.Hope that helps!

Perfect Red Lips – Absolutely LOVE This
I’ve always loved a classic red lip, but finding one that works for me now is a lot harder than it used to be. Most red lip products seem to go to one extreme or the other—either they’re so matte that they leave my lips feeling dry and uncomfortable, or they’re so glossy that they slide around and settle into every line. As a 52-year-old woman with post-menopausal, mature skin, I’ve become much more selective about makeup for exactly that reason. This Espoir stain managed to give me the classic red lip I love without any of the usual drawbacks.The color is what first caught my attention. This is a true classic red. It isn’t overly blue-toned and it isn’t orange or yellow leaning either. It sits right in that sweet spot that makes a red lip look timeless. If you love that iconic red lipstick look, this delivers it without feeling overly dramatic or difficult to wear.What impressed me most was the texture. It goes on smoothly and evenly, providing excellent color payoff without feeling thick, sticky, or heavy on the lips. It has enough pigment to make an impact, but it never feels like you’re wearing a heavy layer of product. My lips remained comfortable throughout wear, which is not something I can say about many long-wearing lip products.As someone who has used Korean skincare and makeup for years, I was also excited to see this comes from Espoir, an Amorepacific brand. I have a tremendous amount of trust in Amorepacific. Some of my favorite skincare products come from their brands, and I consistently find their formulas to be thoughtfully developed, reliable, and easy to wear. This stain is another example of why I keep coming back to their products.The stain aspect is also very well done. As the product wears down, it leaves behind a noticeable tint that helps maintain color without requiring constant touch-ups. Once removed, there is definitely a stain left behind, but it’s actually a flattering one. Some stains can fade into odd pink or orange tones, but this one leaves a natural-looking flush of color rather than an awkward leftover stain.Another thing I appreciated was how cleanly it wore. It didn’t bleed into lip lines, feather around the edges, or become patchy as the day went on. That’s especially important for mature lips, where some highly pigmented products can settle into lines and emphasize texture. This one stayed smooth and flattering throughout the day.The formula contains hydrating ingredients, including hyaluronic acid, and it feels noticeably more comfortable than many traditional long-wear lip products. While I still use a lip balm at night, this never left my lips feeling stripped or dehydrated during wear.If you love classic red lips but have been frustrated by heavy matte formulas or overly glossy stains, this is absolutely worth trying. It delivers rich color, comfortable wear, a flattering stain, and a balanced finish that feels modern while still giving that timeless red lip look.If I could give this more than five stars, I would. It has quickly become one of my favorite lip products, and I genuinely hope Espoir expands the shade range using this exact formula. I would happily purchase additional colors because they really got this one right.

Nice red color. Not excessively drying
Finding the perfect shade of red lipstick is not an easy feat. I have light to medium skin with olive undertone. I personally have always gravitated toward orange reds. It’s because I have tried many blue red lip products in the past and they just did not go well with my skin tone. I was intrigued by Espoir Iconic Lip Stain The Red and impressed by their bold statement that it flatters all skin tones.The lip stain comes in a simple tube and doe foot applicator. Kudos to Espoir for having Braille on the tube. The application is fairly easy, but the doe foot applicator doesn’t provide a lot of precision. So it’s best to apply with a lip brush. The color is definitely a blue red/cherry red color. When it’s sheered out, it’s more of a reddish pink. Thank God it’s not a fuchsia like some red lip stains I’ve used in the past. I personally prefer the sheered-out gradient look on my lips. I dab the lip stain in the center of my lips, sheer it out outwardly with my fingertips or tissue paper. I find that I have enough time to blend it to my liking before it sets on my lips. It’s fragrance free.Upon application, the lip stain has a natural matte finish. It’s not super drying but not moisturizing at the same time. It feels lightweight on the lips. It doesn’t sink into my lip lines and doesn’t emphasize texture on my lips. Either applied with full intensity on or sheered out, the lip stain is not transfer-proof. I would find the pigment on my cup, spoon, fork, etc. It doesn’t bother me, but it means it’s fading more every time you eat or drink. It wears out relatively evenly. I find that by noon, when I eat lunch and wipe my lips, the lip stain would be fully gone. I’m not seeing much “stain” effect on my lips. Because I rarely wear it full on, I have not noticed any “bleeding” effect.Overall, it’s a nice lip stain and feels comfortable on my lips. The red color does look nice on my skin tone when sheered out. I will continue to use it, but I’m not sure that the formulation necessarily stands out among so many other Korean lip stains.

Gorgeous, Comfortable, Versatile Lippie
This is such an interesting product as I don’t see a ton of red lippies in K-beauty. I am a Asian beauty fanatic so I love seeing something new.I used to wear red lipstick almost daily for years until my lips became quite sensitive to matte lipsticks, I find most of them drying after awhile and mostly wear glosses and balms at this point. I do like a good stain if it isn’t drying. I’m happy to say this one is very comfortable. As someone who has owned probably 50 different red lipsticks of various price points, I’m very impressed with this one.The color- it is a cool toned, medium depth red, a pinky red if you sheer it out. I do think it is a shade that would be flattering on most skin tones.The formula- wonderfully light and easy to blend out for that diffused, cloud lip look that’s popular. It also makes a great blush! Here I am wearing it on both eyes and cheeks with no liner other than a slight lip contour. It looks really spectacular with a dark liner underneath, like a brown or dark red as well.I wore it for an entire day and my lips never felt dry which was a pleasant surprise, it remained very slightly tacky and never completely dried, it wasn’t unpleasant and if you touch a little powder to it the feeling goes away. It is transfer resistant but not transfer proof and leaves a stain behind that is very long lasting. It didn’t settle into lip lines and made my lips look nicely blurred.I really like how versatile it is, that you could wear it soft or sharply defined, as a blush, under gloss, etc. More importantly I’m happy to find a red that’s comfortable all day for me again. Great product all around.

Gorgeous red with serious staying power
This is the kind of red lip color I was hoping for. The shade is rich and bold without looking neon, and the pigmentation is impressive from the first swipe. I was expecting a thinner, watery stain, but the formula feels smoother and more comfortable on my lips. It gives me enough time to clean up the edges before it really settles in.Once the initial layer wears down, it leaves behind a beautiful red stain that lasts for hours. I still had noticeable color after eating and drinking, which is usually where most lip products disappear on me. It isn’t completely transfer proof right after applying, but the staying power is excellent once it sets.The packaging also feels much nicer than I expected. Overall, this has quickly become one of my favorite reds when I want something dramatic that I don’t have to constantly check or reapply.

Not what I expected
I know the description says “stain,” so I guess it’s my fault, but I was still expecting a velvety texture that Espoir is usually good at. But the tint felt really cheap to be honest…when applied, it feels very oily but the color application is too strong, in a very unpretty way. Like you know, it feels like one of the unknown branded lip products I would buy at a random section in a store. And the product has an unpleasant chemical taste/smell, which makes it really worse in combination with the oiliness. Also, the color isn’t as deep of a red as I expected. The actual application (unless you do multiple layers to make it really thick) is more of a fuchsia tone. As I was really excited for this product from Espoir, the disappointment is real. And especially considering the price, over twenty something dollars for this quality? Definitely, no.
